PETA at it again!!

Just saw this on Yahoo News...

Thought it was kinda funny. I understand protecting animals and all, but, COME ON!!...Granting them constitutional rights!?!?

LOL I'm sorry..but sometimes I picture the folks at PETA sitting around in a big ole circle saying "Ok guys were running low on money. So whats the stupidest thing we can push for to ask for donations."

This completely does not suprise me. I mean, at one time, HSUS was pushing for a presidential cabinet post for an Animal Welfare Liason. I am curious though, as to what PETA would deem a suitable habitat? It seems to me that an Orca that is born and raised in captivity, being hand fed by humans, may very well die if released into the wild. Wild Orca calves are taught by the parents and other pod members how to hunt and corner various prey, and the techniques and prey also vary between pods of different locations. It just seems to me that, as usual, they are focused mainly on an overall result, with little to no regard or consideration of the details...:no: Just my :twocents:

It's a really good thing they weren't around when we were domesticating dogs and cats or that probably never would have happened (which is what I'm sure they wish). :P

PETA is a fraud. They care about $$$$ NOT animals.

PETA always puts animal rights before animal welfare. I doubt that's not likely to change anytime soon... I don't think they give much thought to anything past making a big commotion.

I really think that a lot of people on this forum and elsewhere are much too harsh on PETA, especially considering our actions/decisions and theirs are rooted in the same thing: love for animals.

There is a TON of animal cruelty and inadequate care in the world, INCLUDING among reptile keepers... I don't blame them for fighting for animal rights, and I try to do the same (though perhaps not to some of the same extremes).

I don't agree with some of the measures that they suggest, but the world is a much better place for animals as a result of PETA. Really, we aren't so different from them. If we want to ensure that we are able to keep reptiles in our homes for years to come, we need to focus on education and public awareness. PETA bashing is certainly not going to help the cause.

There are a lot of really dedicated, passionate, and wonderful people that work for PETA. I know a few myself, and the ones I know are open-minded to what I have to say. I encourage others on this forum to take that same approach.
