Saggy skin

Just noticed the other day my girl has some saggy/flabby skin. Not a whole lot but enough that when she bends the thickest part of her body you can see the skin overlap. Heres a picture, you cant really see it too well though. When you touch it, its like the flab guys have on their bellies. You can almost grab it, and its like extra skin on her body.

Im not too worried though, just was wondering if this is normal for bps. She is very small for her age though, around 32 inches (still need to get a scale to weigh her). Will this problem go away after a few years of good feeding ? Shes eaten the last 4 meals for me no problem, last night she even managed to get two rat pups down cuz i ran out of small rats. They were pretty small for her though.

She looks healthy to me...I wouldn't worry.


Edit: Just bend your fingers and look at the creases in your hand...same thing.

Fanks guys thats what i thought

I know what the problem is, it's that she's fat. I had this problem with a juvenile ball python that was eating regular adult mice at the time which gave him a good little bulge. Well I fed him a small rat which was at least twice his size because that's all I had at that time and after three or four days of digesting I noticed the same thing. It's that extra bulge of soft tissue from about and inch or so from the tip of the tail to where the neck starts. This is what fat looks like on a snake. I waited until a week after I fed him and he was slimmed down some, and then I waited another week and he was back to his normal self. Basically don't feed her again until she's back to normal. After that either feed her a smaller meal or feed her every two weeks. Hope this helps.

I agree with Leah here. My snakes get that extra flabby look to their skin when they are about to shed. This does not necessarily mean that a snake is overweight. I think the OP is doing just fine with their snake.

And yea she IS in shed right now so thats probably why she felt extra flabby when I last handled her

I've been working with and obsessed with ball pythons for ten years. This is what happened to my snake and my snake looked like what I described and my snake was overweight. While I now know now that this is not what is happening with his snake, I didn't get a good look at the picture. I now see that only one part of it's body has the "saggy skin."
