    Why?
My little Hog Island boa will only eat live and only if I put it in and then leave. I usually feed her fuzzies but the breeder I get them from was out of fuzzies today so I got her 2 pinkies. She ate one and dropped the other in her water dish, drowned it and never ate it. Why would she do that?
I know it didn't get in there by itself. I'd be willing to bet money she won't eat it now even though I pulled it out of the water. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them?

When I'm feeding my baby balls, I sometimes find pinks and what I call "chubs" (in between pink and fuzzy, in the water dish and I know the balls aren't dropping them in there. And just to note, I don't use very shallow water dishes. Recently I've started removing water dishes before feeding just because of this.

She may be picky. Some snakes won't take feeders that are wet, white some will eat whatever is in front of them.

I have some that are picky (refering to my balls) that will only eat if I do this or that a certain way (only if I prescent the tub, only if I leave them be in the dark with no noise, etc etc) so you may just need to find her feeding quirk if she's a new additon.

Also, it being in water probably made it cold so she won't want it (I don't think I'd want to dunk my head in water to retrieve my food item either) but I would definatly try to heat it up really nice and offer it with tongs or leave it with her overnight if it hasn't been a long time since you offered it to her. Might as well try some new techniques with her.

Some are pickier than others. I had a Dumeril's boa female who used to only eat if I dropped in the rat pup and left the room with the lights off.

Welp, must say this method is better than not eating :gj:. I'm sure you will be able to slowly wean the snake away from this. Once the snake starts to consistently eat, it may become more comfortable eating at any time of day with anyone in the room.

Some of my boas will not eat if the prey gets too cool. I have to heat my F/T's up with a blow dryer to 99-100F, which is the normal body temp of a live rat. I also feed those snakes last so that I can shut off the lights and get out of the room quickly. After about an hour or two I will check back. If any didn't eat, I will re-heat the prey and offer it again. If they don't eat it the second time, then I just toss the prey and offer again next feeding day...

Peaches, my baby boa, insists on dragging her "kill" into her hide box. She'd eat whatever I offered her so she's not picky, and she has no problem coming out to get it and she does so immediately (she's a pig). Once she strikes and "kills" it (I do feed f/t) she then drags it off to her hide to eat. I guess she's bashful.....
