    Kinked Tail...
I received a new Pastel male on Wednesday of this week. While I was unboxing the little guy, I noticed that he had been packaged differently than I'd seen before (Basically, in a deli cup but with a paper towel wadded in it and undernieth the snake.)

When I opened him up, he was on top of the paper towel and looked to be in an uncomfortable position with no room to move at all. His tail was also in an odd position.

Below are a couple of pictures of the little guy just after I pulled him out. You can notice that he has an odd "kink" in his tail. I assumed this would go away and I've left him alone until today.

Today was the first day I tried to feed him and he was very pissy and defensive. The first animal to actually bite (nip) me. I also noticed when he was in his defensive position that his tail kinked strangely still.

Should I be worried about this? Do you think he could be pissy because he's hurt?

    Thanks in advance...

I don't see a kink? Looks like he will defecate soon...where exactly is the kink you see? Are you talking about where it's bent? Is it not bent because of the position he's in?

I'm not seeing a kink so much as his lower end (by the vent) looking swollen and bulbous. But that could just be the angle. Are you seeing the kink by the vent or where his lower end makes a "L" shape in the second picture?

It looks to me like he needs to take a number 2. Maybe he's constipated and needs a good soak!

I agree. He's got "sausage butt" for sure. If he doesn't poop in the the next few days, a good soak in some very shallow lukewarm water should do the trick. I just don't advise letting him crawl around your neck or wrist until he goes... :D

Glad to hear that you guys aren't seeing anything abnormal. It's probably a result of the little guy having a large duke on-board and being confined a bit (he did deficate that first day.) Just kind of worried me when I thought I saw a king again today.

Well, I'm going to leave the little guy alone for another 5 days or so to acclimate. Hopefully he's a bit less pissy and shows no awkward signs. Definitely hope he's less nippy. =)

    Thanks again...

Was this picture before or after he went to the bathroom?
