    non-toxic paint?
    So im going to be building a rack and can get all the wood i want for free, but i want to water proof it and i was wondering what you guys use or just anything non toxic i can use.

    I wouldn't use paint personally, I'm sure some are just fine. I'd use a wood stain, or you could use paint and then buy some sort of clear sealer to put over it?

    This company might have somthing that will work. I use melamine personally for anything cage wise that might come in contact with water, or high humidity.

    The free wood part is nice but it may end up costing alot to put a non toxic seal on it

    I use 'Valspar' (sp?) from Lowes. It's a latex based, very water repelling paint that is non toxic when dry. I use it on all my cages, and used it on the rack I made long ago. :) One coat does the trick, and it's cheap to boot.

    Try a nursery paint. They are a bit on the expensive side but are usually non-toxic.

    i used water based paint that is water proof and meant for the outdoors i let it cure for a week when i made my bp cage and have had no problems you can check out my vid on youtube that talks about i used, this is what i was told to do...

    also mack1time on youtube made some boa enclosures and talks about what he used to paint them type in poor mans snake enclosure and you will find all his vids on them one of which talks about the painting and what he used

    Zinnser bulls eye water based primer sealer. I use it on my racks. Just give it a few days to air out with heat in it. Very low odor even when its still wet.
