Re: help! humidity issues.
get an acurite indoor/outdoor temp plu hygrometer, that way you know for sure, and foil is a better cover for a tank, since a blanket will suck up moisture almost instantly
but the heat pad placement is fine, as long as you can control the temps, theyre known to get up to 130+
Re: help! humidity issues.
i have a rheostat on the heat pad so i can change the temp, i keep it set at medium/low, and i plan on getting a digital thermostat and a hygrometer, you think i can get a hygrometer at walmart from the garden section?
Re: help! humidity issues.
oh and foil as in tin foil?

just make sure you do a salt test to check the hygro:
http://cigars.about.com/od/humidors/qt/hygrometers.htm
and make sure you know what kind of salt you have:

the one in the pic reads 7% low, and the one for my boa reads 17% low, so they do vary
and yes, tin foil
Re: help! humidity issues.
salt test?? what do you mean? and does that thermometer you have measure temperture and humidity percentage?

put the probe on the hot side resting on top of the substrate (i bury mine about 1/2'' down), and put the console on the cool side
Re: help! humidity issues.
and you can get one like that in the garden section of walmart?
Re: help! humidity issues.
i found mine kinda more by the auto section, or diy section i guess, but just ask someone where the indoor/outdoor thermometers are, and make sure you find one that reads all 3
