Got a rack and breeder rats
I happened to find someone with a couple used 16 bin rat racks for sale. After I went to see them, they were in worse shape than I thought, so I ended up getting one(the better one, obviously). I stopped at the car wash on the way home and scrubbed and pressure washed it because it was dirty. Wrestled the huge thing through spaces it just barely fit through to have it in the back unused room.
Viola! A rat rack.

A couple have stumpy tails, and two males got into a fight in the transport bin before I picked them up. One of the males that got beat up actually has no front feet! Just stumps. They are obviously an old injury, not anything recent, and he gets around well without them because he's fat.

I ended up with 6.24 I believe, and right now I have them 1.4 in the bins. I need to pick up more water bottles and I'll weed them down to 1.3 at most. I don't want them crowded. I might switch to a cycling method rather than just keeping males in the bins. Right now I want them all to settle in.
There are blues, hooded, a light red one that's gorgeous, one with dumbo ears, several nice siamese and some brown ones that look like wild types.
It's been a while since I had rats as breeders, and I'm pretty excited. I also have 6 youngsters from another person I'm raising into breeders. They're great fun to watch playing and wrestling. Hopefully I'll see some pinkies soon. A few of the females look pregnant.
Re: Got a rack and breeder rats
Not a bad buy from the looks of things. Dirt comes off and if the rack is still solid, I'm betting the rats won't care. That's crazy about the stumpy fat dude, lol! Reminds me of me, except me with legs, lmao! :gj:
