hi, can anyone help me about my mums royal pythons?

hi, i was wondering if any of you could give me abit of advice about my mums royals. she had my royals off me not so long ago, i brought 2 and they were housed together so we have kept them together. this morning she was getting ready for work and they were wrapped around eachother rolling around the tank, when she turned the light on they stopped and moved there seperate ways. there about a year and a half, both eat well and shed well

What exactly are you asking or are you asking a question?...I'm confused, lol! I wouldn't recommend housing them together in the same tank, that can stress them out pretty bad and/or otherwise not be healthy for them. Were they locking when they were "rolling" around the tank together?

oh, i didnt realise you couldnt house them together, im not sure if they were locked, my mum rung said she was getting ready for work and heard noises, she looked and they were wrapped around eachother but rolling around the tank. soon as they noticed her they stopped and one went to the other side of the tank.

You might end up with little ball pythons, if you have a male and female in there together, lol! It can be done (housing them together) but it isn't recommended. Here's a caresheet that lists a lot of good info for starting out. Not trying to insult your intelligence or experience by offering this, so anyway...hope this helps.

first of all, this is what can happen when you house two ball pythons together:

what your mom saw is most likely them fighting, BP's are solitary animals, get very stressed when housed together, and two males especially will fight, maybe to the death, and this might also be an outcome. i would suggest housing them seperatly asap. even though they might seem "happy" together, they are actually just tolerant of it, for now at least. and if you absolutly have to house them together, make sure theyre in a large enough, and cluttered enough space, to not feel like the other snake is invading their turf

They should really not be housed together for a number of reasons. You can search cohabitation on the forum and find many threads debating the topic. Do you know if they're male or female? My initial thought was unintentional breeding, but it could have also been fighting. It is not uncommon for one to show dominance over the other when housed together...

im not sure what sex they are, they were my ex partners. he left and left the snakes, i dont no much about royals, my ex kept them together as the breeder said they were housed together anyway, with them not being mine i didnt do any research, i will tell my mum asap and will sort another tank out, didnt realise it could harm them :(

A breeder told your ex to house them together? Hmmmm...I don't know of any experienced breeders that want buyers to house snakes together unless it's for breeding purposes (if anyone knows of anyone please inform me!). I would definatly separate them if anything.

Also, if they were trying to lock some males will try to lock with another male. So you may or may not have a male and a female. I would get them sexed by someone experienced if you have the means to do so.
