    Lookit the new baby House!!
I've been wanting a colubrid for awhile. First I wanted a beauty snake but their temperament turned me off. Then I considered a house snake but I'm not in a position to purchase any more reptiles at the moment. I considered field herping for a local bull, or black rat but then this little guy fell in my lap.

I got this cute lil guy in trade for a normal poss het ball today. He's a red phase so I think I did pretty good :D

    My first colubrid yay!

African house snake, red phase. Totally not sure on locale but I love him all the same :)

Waaay too cute. I'm hoping to find one at a reptile show tomorrow but it'll be little. I probably won't have any luck. Thanks for the pictures:)

I'm not really sure about red phase... Red phase called Erythristic or Brick red.. is Brick... Red... lets see how he mature... right now he looks more like normal capensis to me...

He looks brown in those photos. They are cell pics. Here is the pic from the girl I got him from and this is much much closer to his actual red color.. He is almost this bright in real life and no where near as brown as my cell pics portray..

And yes it is the same snake. I've already compared the very distinct pattern he has on his head on his left side to be sure she wasn't BS'n me lol!

I thought the capes were striped. This guy isn't striped at all. Unless I'm mistake about them but all the pictures I'm finding shows stripes.

Capes have bigest numbers of known morphs... besides normal You have:
    Zululand Phase - greyish one
    Striped
    Patternless
    T- albino
    T+ albino
    T+Albino Patternless
    T-Albino Patternless
    'Hypo'
'Blue' phase - Tan with blue hue...
    Hi-bino (T+ Snow)
    T-Snow
    'Piebald'
    Brick red / Erythristic
    Green phase

I read about axhantic /hypo albino and pastel albino as well...

Capensis are fun.. care is basically similar to corns with slight higher Humidity...

I'm on the finish of writing care sheet... soon will be available here on BP.net :gj:
