Moldy 1/2 log hide
I just got back from a few days with family, to find that my corn snake had dumped some of the water from his bowl over. Unfortunately, I just bought a nice big 1/2 log hide for him to use before I left. Its now has mold on the one side of it. Is there any way to treat the wood, and kill the mold, or should I just plan on buying another hide all together?

I personally don't like the half log hides...I think if you bake the wood it might be okay, but I wouldn't chance it.

I agree, you should just throw the log away and replace it with a hide that's easy to clean.

I use one for my Toads setup, and avoid moisture near it. But when it needs to be cleaned, Soak it in a disinfectant like Cholorohexidine for few mins. Then Bake it dry and put it back.

what they all said, plus for now you can sand the inside to get rid of most of the mold, i had to d that with a stick, and now im sealing it

I wouldn't risk it. Just get a new one, or even better, get a piece of PVC and cut it in half length wise, then you have two nice "log-like" hides that are easy to clean!
