Opinions on next snake (what should I get)

A few of you know that I have been caring for my friends two BCCs for several years now. It was for medical reasons- she was fighting cancer and was traveling a lot for her treatments. Long story short- she didn't have good chances and wanted her (legless) children to be happy. She has kick cancer's butt and has the Doc's approval to get her life back.

So 20 (combined) feet of snake are now back with there mom.

And I'm missing them...

I don't want another BCC because I don't want to replace them but don't mind other locals. I don't want to go over 8 feet. I was thinking of maybe a Brazilian Rainbow boa or maybe an African house snake (every one that has them seems thrilled with them).

Those are just two of many that interest me. I'm mostly set up with humidity and temperatures for BPs but I can tweak things. What are you thoughts on them? Do you have other suggestions? What locals do you prefer?

The house really seems empty without them here:(.

I don't have any suggestions but that is a beautiful boa, I can see why you miss them. They have such great personalities. It is admirable to take care of someone in need, thank you.

Thank you! They were awesome. I'm hoping to find something with great personalities too:)

Have you considered a Black Milksnake? Will not exceed your 8' mark (but may get 6-7'), very docile, awesome eaters, very hardy, do not require supplemental heat, tons on personality, awsome color shift from tri-colored to solid black.
30 years of dabling have me leaning towards this animal as my next choice.

I have been looking into them. I hear good things on line but I don't know anyone personally with them. I have a couple of friends with corns, kings, rosy boas, and beauty snakes.

I'm also curious about maybe a coxi or a Mandarin rat snake. They look stunning but I don't know anyone with them...

I have no history on the coxi. I do know the Mandarin can be a bit darty and prone to bite... prefer minimal handling. Both are very striking though.

... oh, have been around several babies and full grown BMS... the adults are very impressive & confident creatures indeed.

ive always really liked amazon tree boas, i dont know a whole lot about them though

I love my SD Retics :D All the personality and none of the size. They like it a bit more humid than BPs but I just keep their water bowl on the heat tape always. I can't help with any thing else but that was awesome of you to care for those two while your friend was in bad times. Best of luck!

I have a friend with a couple neat ones and one that is a mean SOB. I think if I got one I'd want to find an adult that was calmer than trying to raise one up.

I really enjoy native snakes but different states can make it tough. I've been thinking really heavily about getting another Eastern Indigo (had one as a little girl). I have good memories of her but that was a long time ago and don't remember much beyond a big pretty black snake that liked warm hands:)
