    A question about my spider
So I have a > 6 month old male spider. Normally he only has 3 black spots, but the week before he goes into shed I can start to see more black spots. Has anyone ever heard or seen anything like this?

that seemed to work so I'll talk about it:

As I said before there are normally only 3 visible, but the week before shed more show up. This picture doesn't show all of them but you get the point.

All but the usual 3 will vanish after he has finished shedding, and will not return until the week before his next shed.

Those are alien heads, some of my spiders have them, and yes they will appear darker during shed.

Wow, that's pretty cool! It's like an octopus changing skin color/pattern haha.

I'll have to watch with my spider and see if the same thing happens.

I kind of wonder if maybe he'll start showing those spots more permanently as he grows older... time may tell.

So you are saying that they are there all the time just that I can't see them unless they are exaggerated by the shedding process. I figured that was the case but I didn't want to rule out anything. Thanks for the replies.
