Exo-Terra Incubator

I wont be breeding this season but I will be starting next season and I couldnt turn this down. Anyways I picked up a exo-terra incubator off craigslist for 50 bucks!The best part is it was never opened all original packaging/paper.

I wanted to know if people here have used this and have had pretty good success with it also id like to know if there is any down falls to it. I Still think I got a steal for only 50 bucks even if it isn't the best. :headbang:

From my understanding they are alright. But if I were you I'd hook up my own thermostat just to be safe. And having it up and running PERFECTLY a few weeks before any eggs drop.

Is it the digital cooling and heating one? If it is definitely put on your own thermostat... I have one, tested it and when you set the temps to 95 its about 88 inside...

I almost purchased one off amazon for $100, but asked a few friends who have tried them and the consensus is that they drop a lot before starting to heat again and get too hot before starting to cool. I do not know this as first hand experience but trust the people it has happened to. It is the same exact unit that other people sell (ie., reptipro 5000). It is simply a small fridge that they incorporated a heating unit into. They may have had faulty units, but I would at least put a few of my own known thermometers in there and invest in a temp gun. This was my first year using on and its worked perfectly so far....once you get past the kinks. First, the actual temp (in the middle of the incubator) is about 3 degrees lower than the readout. It also seems to be a degree warmer near the very top and a degree lower in the very bottom because the fan only turns on when its actively heating. However (at least in mine) the temperature is VERY stable and the cooling feature probably saved at least one clutch when I forgot to turn on the AC before I left for the day.

Overall, I actually like this incubator once you get past the quirks.

Exactly everything you said here is what I noticed when I was playing around with it. I have zoo med digital thermometers and I set one of the probes in the mid and noticed it was about 3 degrees cooler as well. I had the incubator set at 90 and in the mid it was reading about 87-87.6 What do you set yours to while incubating? 90? Thanks

92 with an actual temp of 88.5-89.

aswesome i was just asking the same questions about this incubator it sounds like it might just do the trick for me this season since im not going to be having a lot of clutches...
