Snakes are moving around all day
I have two male BP's in tanks in the living room. Their normal behavior is staying in the hides until they get hungry and then moving around. Most times I have to remove the hides and wake them up for feeding. They are very content.

Lately both have been moving around all day. This goes on even after they eat. Nothing has changed. Very odd for them.

Could it be change of seasons, hurricanes, mating season...?

how old are they? are you 100% sure both are males. if u have females close by and they are old enough to breed they may smell them. how long have you had them in the living room? most snakes will get stressed out when being in a high traffic area like that. double check your husbandry and make sure the tank is clean. if its cooled off recently make sure the ambient temps are ok and it hasnt messed with their heat source. something is different than before and that is causing their change in attitude. you just have to figure out what it is and fix it. good luck. let us know.

Check your temps. If they are too hot and can't thermoregulate they will become restless trying to find a colder spot.

I lowered the thermostats and they settled down. Not completely but better than before.

Is it a myth that they move around when hungry?

I think they are just being ball pythons if you ask me. I would feed them slightly larger prey that should get them sluggish, not thinking that would help but you never know until you try.

I have to be really careful with the older one. When I fed him appropriate sized food a few times he stopped eating for two months. Slightly smaller keeps him eating.

I had one normal BP that would not eat from fall to spring. That irked me.

It's not a myth; they do move around when hungry. That's not the ONLY reason they move around, though.
