I don't mean to be a total bummer, but I am curious... For those of you who have had snakes die in their collections, what did they die from? I was wondering what the leading cause of bp mortality was besides bad husbandry and just getting old.

My first snake (a cornsnake) died from a prolonged fight against an infection in her jaw. Countless vet visits and dollars, after two years of fighting recurring infections, she passed away at 8 years old.

My fiance's ball who passed soon after I moved in died of a broken jaw due to striking the wall of his enclosure during shed. He couldnt even get a mouse down after that. He wasnt in great health even before then though so it could have been a combination of circumstances. = (

My first died from a congenital heart defect. She was there one day and gone the next. It was scary. We did a necropsy to rule out illness'. It was a relief to see it wasn't someone's fault or an illness that could be passed around.

i bought an 07 normal off a guy that just had them dumped on him by a guy that was moving cross country. i got her cheap and knew she was sick, but the guy had nowhere to put her. she died from complications due to an advanced RI. i spent over 1000 bucks at the vet but just couldnt fix her.
