She took a 100 gram rat like it was an appetizer...
I picked up a 1604 gram normal female a week ago at a local show. I bought some medium f/t rats while I was there for her. I couldn't wait until tomorrow to try to feed, so I went ahead and fed tonight. The girl took a 100 gram f/t rat no problem. When she was done I couldn't even tell that she had eaten and she was roaming the enclosure like she was looking for more. Normally I can see the "bulge" after my snakes feed, I could not see this on her.

Do I need to bump up in size? If so, what do you all recommend?

you could probably feed a ball python that size a rat that weighed 240 grams. They can eat food items 15% of their body weight

Thank you for the answers. I will go ahead and keep her on that size.

So she weighed 1604 grams when I brought her home. When she was in her enclosure I noticed that she was drinking a LOT of water. I wondered if she didn't have enough before. The second day that I had her she defecated and let me tell you, it was a big one (lol). Anyways, I weighed her today and shes up to 1906 grams. I fed her a 100 gram rat the other day (hence the thread).

I was thinking. A 1600 gram snake, a 100 gram rat. Where did the other 200 grams come from? Water?
