    rat food
    Hey,

I just picked up some Gourmet Rat food for my rats at Walmart. Its primarily fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and grains. Its the only thing they have here that's marketed as rat food.

I was wondering if the rats diet can have a negative effect on the snake and if the above is acceptable to feed to a feeder rat.

    Thanks.

Pet store or department store rat food are not designed for feeders or breeders that produce the feeders and have very little nutritional value.....in other word if you want to produce feeders it's just expensive junk.

Remember breeding take it's tall on the adults so you want to feed something that is nutritional.

Anything at walmart is well, frankly, crap.
I deal with this on a daily basis. People come in, buy an animal from me, and get the crap from walmart and three months later start asking why their pet looks they way it does.
    Buy a quality rodent block.

You can order 5 bags of Native Earth 4018 (200lbs) from nationalpetpharmacy.com for $85. Also they are currently offering 10% off orders over $85 until 10/31/11 (coupon is SAVE1085), plus the shipping is free if you sign up for auto ship, which is where they auto ship out a new orders every so many months you choose, up to a year.

So in the end you can get 200lbs of high quality lab block delivered to your door for 76.34, or $.38 a pound.
