    Snake bite vs cat scratch
My cat scratched me pretty good today, but it was unintentional so I forgive her. She was walking all over me as usual - you can't ignore this cat , and she slipped. Now it just hurts.

Snake bites may hurt for a second or two but they don't cause lasting pain like this. I'm having trouble remembering why I am afraid to get bitten by my snakes. :P

This is a good point. The bites are normally very fast and painless, yet we are so afraid to get them.

I'm actually more afraid of my snakes hurting their mouths, than I am of them hurting my skin.

Yeah, cat scratches ALWAYS hurt later, and they ALWAYS get infected the next day!

I think the snake bites are scary because it LOOKS like a viper strike. And there's some really low, base part of my brain that freaks out whenever a snake tags me. But the bites never hurt later, and they never get infected.

I would say its because of the speed involved, its the shock we get rather than the fear of the pain itself. I'm scared of getting bit because I know I would instinctively pull back and I fear hurting the snakes mouths or rip its teeth and and cause some mouth rot, and not for my hand.

Its the action of being bit, Thats all I can think of. Now a cat scratch to me, Is nasty. They use the restroom where they stand, Then dig in there, usually they have a lingering burn to them. Make sure you clean that thing out...
