Possible enclosure project - thoughts?

I was helping my sister clean out the garage, and stumbled across this little gem:

The lone surviving cabinet from when our kitchen got remodeled :D The measurements are roughly 35"x15"x10". It's a few inches shy of the recommended size for an adult BP enclosure, but I don't think that's enough of a difference to hurt anything? Obviously the most awkward bit is that to have the best proportions it has to be doors-up, but I think that gives me a kind of nifty opportunity to work a removable divider into the design.

So far, I'm thinking that what will be the front will be either a solid piece of plexiglass, or sliding-door style. If I go with a solid piece, then I'd make it top-opening (making the divider idea work a little more nicely, I think), and then the decision is whether to leave the wooden doors on and add some real locks, or make plexiglass top panels.

Questions for you lovely folks of BPnet:
-How would I best go about doing the removable divider idea?
-Front-opening or top-opening, which would you choose?
-Whats the safest way to have a light inside the enclosure?
-Any other questions/comments/ideas?

u could cut it with a small recipricating saw.... get it as close to seems as possible then sand it smooth..... u could could pry hit it with a hammer and break center out and pull the rest of pieces out pretty easy as well, it should be fairly flimsy wood in there,,,

i would make plexiglass doors where the wooden ones are so u can see inside it easier....


if u did like a slighlty riased floor in it u could pry do a heat pad in side it as long as between heat pad and wood floor was enough breathing area

i think ive seen some similar enclosures in the diy section look through and see, u can get some more ideas that way

It's a little tricky to see, but the wood panel in what will be the front is already pushed in some, apparently it was just staple-gunned in place lol, so getting it out won't be too difficult. I was thinking of leaving the middle bar in the top, that way I can either leave the doors in place, or save a little cash by getting 2 smaller plexiglass panels instead of one long one.

I do really like the idea of putting a lip along the bottom so I can have a slightly raised floor with a UTH underneath, but we also have some really nice left over flooring tiles that I was thinking of using, and in that case I'd probably just save up for one of those nice heat panels instead, since the flooring tiles wouldn't let enough heat through from the UTH (they're a pretty solid stone).
