How to set-up tub with heat lamp
I need to install a heat lamp on my snake's tub to heat a basking area. How do I attach wire to the lid so that the snake can't get out (like chicken wire) and attach an infared heat lamp safely?

Honestly I would stay away from the heat lamp and use a UTH. same price and either way you will need a thermostat or at least a dimmer.

Now if you have to use a heat lamp my friend had a good design. He just cut a circle in the lid a little smaller then the lamp its self. Put the lamp over the hole and used ducked tape (On the outside) to secure it tightly on the lid. He then attached the lamp to a dimmer. It worked wonderfully and he has had that set up for about 3 years now. Never escaped. Never burned anything.

BPs don't bask so you don't need a basking area :) Even if you have another species most likely it won't need a basking area either.

I agree with Daniel, just stick a UTH on there with some sort of regulation (I use dimmers) and you'll be all set.

You are only asking for problems, using a heat lamp with a plastic tub enclosure.
