ball pythons seem super boring now
I have one ball python. About a month or so ago now I got a BCI boa and I just think she is way more interesting and cooler then my ball python. Anyone else sort of loose interest in bp's after getting into boa's? They just seem to be smarter and have more personality to me.

I love my boas and I love my BPs. I won't lie though, my first boa holds a very special place in my heart and losing her would be hard. That being said I have BPs that it would kill me to get rid of too. I just love them all I guess. :)

It's my geckos that bore me a little. I can't even touch most of them because they are tiny and flighty. :(

I have both species as well, and honestly I love all of them. They are so different, and are so special in different ways. It's like comparing apples to oranges. My boa is so cool because he's way more perceptive, seemingly takes it all in when he's out, his feeding response is fierce and so cool to watch, and much more interactive. My ball pythons, although they are all different, are so curious, I love how clumsy they are thinking they can climb things they really can't, trying to get into the smallest creases, they are all much easier to hold and "hang out" with. I love them all differently, I don't think I could get bored of any of my reptiles :D

Different species have different appeals, to me BP are the eye candy however as a handling level and personality level they get beat by the other species I keep without a doubt.

Nothing beat my carpets and my bulls when it comes to personality and intelligence.

Like I said it's a different appeal :gj:

I will always love my bps. It was the first species of snake I ever owned and honestly, the only species I would personally want. My tortoise though, he has stolen my heart for sure!!!

Thats interesting you should say that, I've been thinking about getting a bull snake of some sort in the future. I also want a hognose, any experience with their personalities and behavior?

That's essentially what's going on with us. Not saying I'd get rid of my three little ones, just not as interested in getting more as I used to be. I used to be ALL about geckos, now that I've kept more species I find that I'm more into snakes and frogs in general!

bps are deff the eye candy but the boas and larger pythons have the best personalities IMO

To get on intelligence I got to Retics for that. Extremely intelligent snakes.

I don't think that's completely true. My hypo jungle boa is major eye candy to me, which is funny because her name is Candy. :P

Yeah BPs come in tons of colors and patterns, but there are some really pretty boas out there too.
