My Best friend of 12 years
    :tears:

My dog Freckles is going to be put down today. She's 12 and has had problems with arthritis the last year or so, and the last week has been very tough for her. My dad is going to take her to the vet at 3pm today, and I was at least happy that I got to go see her on my lunch break, and tell her I love her, and that I'm going to miss her more than anything. I know it's the best for her, and she will no longer be in pain, but man this is tougher than I ever thought. I've had dogs before, but I was a lot younger when they passed, and I've never felt this much attachment to a dog before. I'm going to stay strong, but she was honestly the best dog I've ever had, and it will be empty when I go to my father's house without her.

I don't normally do this stuff, but I need to get it off my chest.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a cat that I had to have put down and it has been two years now, but I still miss him terribly.

Really sorry to hear that. For me there is no better bond than with a dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss, she seems like a wonderful dog. Arthritis sucks once dogs get it. My dog had it for maybe a year and we recently had to put him down in March. My sympathies go to you and your family, it's so hard losing a close pet. I hope you pull through OK and us members of BP.net are always here for each other :).

    Sorry!
I don't even know what else to say! I watched my 2yr old lab be put down due to a heat stroke and it was the worst thing ever, I do not let many tears flow but I could not hold back at the vet so just let it out, it is like losing a kid :(

I'm sorry, she looks really sweet. My dog shadow (black lab mix) died in November. Coming up on one year. She had cancer and died on the living room chair over night and on thanksgiving morning we found her. I know how you feel, extreme sadness, some depression, maybe a little guilt.

Again, verry sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry about your lose. I work at a animal hospital and weekly have to help put an animal down. I cry everytime even though they aren't my aninals. My 3 year old lab mix tyson passed away in january. It didn't hit me until about a month later. When it did hit it was hard, I would sit there and cry for hours holding onto his photos. You just need to stay strong and remember the good times.
