Can I use a heat lamp as a temporary heating source?
I don't have my heat tape for my rack and I only have two heating pads for my two ball pythons and a heat lamp that I used to use for my bearded dragon. I don't want to get another heat pad for my coming soon ball python because I'm going to get my heat tape and thermostat this week. So can I use a heat lamp for the time being for like 3-4 days? Once I can get the heat tape and thermostat, I can just use the heat pad from the other snake for my newly aquired ball python which comes in tuesday. I do have an extra heat tape that my friend gave me because she didnt need it, but I got no clips, no dimmer, or anything to connect the wires.

Yes, you can use a lamp for heat. Depending on what type of enclosures you are currently using (tanks or tubs) will determine how you set it up. If you are using stand alone tubs, make sure you mount the lamp securely so that it isn't too close to the plastic.

Not going to use a tub because I'm going to move my ball python that is in a tank to a tub because she is getting to big for that tank. So I'm moving that ball python to a tub in my rack system, clean the hell out of the tank, and put the new ball python into the tank.

Ah, ok. Just expect it to drop your humidity, so you may have to make some adjustments for that, but everything should be fine for a few days.
