Eating backwards - Pull it out?
I tried to feed my newest BP his first meal yesterday. All seemed well, but when I checked later he had the rat backwards up to the hips. When he worked the hips out & only had the tail, I got my tongs & gently pulled it out. What do you think? Did I do the right thing?
I guess I'll try again in a couple of days. He's only been with me for four days, but he seems hungry. He was on live before & I'm feeding f/t.

I've had snakes eat them backwards before. Doesn't really seem to be a problem to me. Sometimes they'll start to eat them 1 way (backwards) then spit them out and work themselves around to the head.

Yup. I've had mine try to eat their prey backwards multiple times. Either they succeed and all is well, or they realize they can't and spit it out, then eat it from the right side. No worries :)

if he's eating it backwards he either hasnt quite figured eating out ot its jsut a little small. like others said if he cant get it down backwards he'll spit it out on his own. mine did try to eat a pinky sideways once, poor guy had a hell of a time getting that one spit out.

Never pull a food item out. He would have been fine.

Yeah, it seems like he was trying to get it out to start over. I hope I didn't freak him out by helping, but he seemed to be struggling to get the tail out. Maybe he would've been better off if I'd of left him alone.
