Whats QT?

I know that I cant handle my baby snake for about a week, But exactly what is QT, my bf has done a lot of research on everything prior to us getting the snake. But its always good to hear it from people with experience.

QT is short for quarantine. That means if you have other reptiles in the house they need to be secluded, ideally in a different room, being sure you wash your hands in between handling for 60-90 days. :)

If this is your first snake QT quarintine is not necessary. But when adding more snakes to your collection and you probally will you must QT them for 60-90 days to keep your current collection safe. A new snake may have mites, parasites, or a disease and you dont want them infecting your collection. I prefer to use a complete seperate room but everyone has there preferance. While in QT you QTed snake(s) are the last handeled and fed and you must ensure all hands are thouroughly washed ETC. Hope this helps;)

QT is quarantine. This is the practice of keeping any new animals you bring in separate from your existing collection to avoid spreading unknown or unseen illnesses. Generally 60-90 days is recommended before moving them into a rack with any existing animals. If you only have the one snake, you don't have to worry about QT. It's something you do when adding more animals to an existing collection.

Well i figured It was Quarentine. But I wasnt sure how it worked for us or applied to my baby girl. I only do have one snake so i guess QT doesnt apply to me. Thank you all.
