A question about high white genetics
I really need to know if this little girl is high white or not. The high white gene has me somewhat baffled with some of the patterns. The mom is an agouti berk and the dad is a black hooded with a distinctly broken stripe. The other litter that he father for me so far was almost completely black berks. The couple that had head spots were fed off, as I am kinda scared of this high white thing. LOL

But here is Nala, my girl in question.

Sounds like you have recessive high white going on which is fine to breed, we breed a lot of high white recessive gene rats and love them, they make the kewlest looking rats IMO.

I don't know for sure if broken stripe is caused by the high white gene or not, I don't believe it is

This is where I got most of my info on high white. Has me scratching my head at times and scared to breed any of my rats that have some of these markings.

Ok here is why your adults that made the blaze are safe to continue breeding.

High white is either a dominate trait or it's a hidden recessive trait.
Berkshires are not high white and neither are hooded rats.
If you made a blazed rat it is from the recessive high white gene and is completely safe to breed.

I breed tons of what are considered high white. I just watch the litter and don't continue the line if I see bloat.
