    GRRR just a rant !!!
So my wife got me a beautiful pied girl as an early Christmas present. I set up the QT tank and told everyone it was very important to leave her alone for at least a week. She would only be out for cleaning ETC and would be in QT for at least 60 days. So I get home from work last night and the misses has her out on the couch and is holding her around her kneck ETC. Well I was a little angry and didn't want to scream at my wife so I though I would vent here. Thanks for listening and yes she is back in her QT tank but was a little stressed and breathing a little heavy when I got home.

I took that to mean that his wife had the snake draped around her neck, not that she was holding the snake by the neck.

I would try to be patient and explain why we leave them alone for a week to acclimate. Once the acclimation period is over, there's no harm in handling while the snake is still in QT. Just make sure she's not handling the snake around your existing collection. Make sure that if she's handling all the snakes, she handles the new one AFTER the existing collection. If she handles the new one and plans to handle the existing collection, make sure she washes her hands thoroughly. Some people even recommend changing clothes before handling the existing collection after handling a QT snake.

Yes the snake was around the wifes neck :) and I was trying to be patient and explain it to her. She assumed that the snake periscoping to the top of the tank meant she wanted out :). I just wanted to vent mainly cause if I keep it bottled in then well it never ends well. The wife promised to leave her alone till next week and that QT was our bedroom so she stays in there for now:)

LMAO okay, whew. But I still wouldn't be that mad at her, how many of us couldn't wait either? It happens.

Sounds like you're handling it right. Just be happy that she shares an interest in your hobby rather than telling you to "get those nasty things away from me". LOL

Aye I took a deep breath and explained why it was so important to maintain QT as well as not stress the snake. I didnt want to upset her as she did get the snake for me and chose a very nice girl and she is showing a great interest. She is a great wife and well I think I was more angry about not getting to hold her myself:P

You are a great guy Robie! Speaking as a WIFE I know how we get, lol. I am fortunate my husband shows nearly as much interest in the snakes as I do and at the very least, he's very supportive of my hobby. We are both lucky we recognize what great spouses we have! I would feel the same - more angry that I didn't get to be the one to hold her... :P

So how about some pics of that gorgeous pied???
