    1/2 or 3/4 Inch Melamine for racks?
    I am building a 5 foot high rack for 28 qt sterilite tubs, which size of melamine should I use?

    i just went and bought a sheet this weekend and didnt even see any 1/2, only 3/4, at home depot. lowes didnt have any at all or at least my store didnt. and i see your an iowa guy too :gj:

    Yea man, Menards has 1/2 and 3/4. I'm going with the 3/4 for my racks. I have it all planned out to build two 28 qt racks that are 8 high and then a 20 tub baby rack. That only takes 4 sheets if you cut it right which is only about $140. Not bad for 36 snake homes! Thats without the tubs ofcourse.

    Where are you at in Iowa?

    i dont think im gonna get anywhere near 36 snakes for a long time but that is a heck of a deal. i just bought the one sheet to make 6 15qt spaces and 4 28qt spaces if cut right, at least thats the plan, for like 40 bux. the tubs themselves cost double that. im way down in the very SW corner. if you've heard about the flooding, well thats about 20 miles W of me.

    3/4 will prevent any sagging that may occur. That's what I used you can get quite a bit of shelves out of a 8ft by 4ft sheet also.
