Question about spurring and courting...

Hey everyone, I am new here, figured I would jump right in with a question. Has anyone ever seen a female spur the back of a male? I know that they both have spurs and I know that males will "tickle" the back of a female to get her "in the mood" and make her position her tail. Will a female attempt to spur the back of a male to get him interested? I have a 970 gram spider that is supposed to be a female and a 700 gram male pastel. They were being temporarily housed together until my rack is finished tomorrow (they have spent time together before) and I witnessed the spider moving up and down the pastel so I went over to see what was what and the spider was spurring the pastel. I am taking her in tomorrow to have the spider probed (I dont have a kit), but was just curious if this has happened to anyone before? Thanks in advance...

On another note, if it is a male, will a male spur another male cause it doesnt know any better?

I am not trying to breed the spider if it is a female because I am not comfortable with her weight yet and would like her to be more than 1300 before that happens (next year). I know the pastel is a male because he is producing sperm plugs and is easilly popped.

I've never seen my females do anything besides pee or scent around. If your spider is a female it shouldn't be trying to tickle the male. I'm only speaking on what I've seen from my collection thou.

Females dont use their spurs like males.

Ive seen many males use the spurs on females

BUt never house snakes together even temporary especially male female where female is young and small. Only takes ONE good lock to get a female gravid.

I seperated them when i saw the behavior. They havent been cycled or anything so I didnt think one night would hurt. But the spider was spurring the pastel. I havent found any info online or in books about females spurring males so I wanted to ask here.

Yes males will tail wag at times. And snakes dont need to be cycled in captivity to breed.

So I took them in to be probed today and they are pretty sure that the spider (thought to be female) is more than likely a male. Spider was clinching and moving all over, prob went in 5-6 scales. They were also saying they have never heard of a female spurring a male. So it is still kind of up in the air because the prob didnt go in very far. they are 80% sure its male. Only way to know for sure I guess is to put it in with a female this season and see if they lock?

Only way to know for sure is to pop the snake. Probing can make a female probe male and so on.

And males have known to lock males.

The smaller pastel easily popped for me, but the spider is a very strong 1000 gram snake that isnt having it, lol. I didn't want to continue to attempt to pop it and strees it out, ya know?

Males court, I have never seen a female even try to tickle a male with her spurs.
I have seen males tail wag but I doubt you'll see any "scenting" from a male, peeing all over maybe, but scenting? naw
5-6 deep and trying to tickle the other snake?
It sounds like a male to me.
