    Winter Heating
Its getting cooler here in MA already and my ceramic heater is doing an excellent job so far. Its just a LASKO ceramic, oscillating heater i keep set at 82 and it stands in a corner of the room so the heat is spread evenly. I know a lot of people here have rooms dedicated to herps and have different ways of heating. So please, share your setups and post pics so others can keep their animals safe this winter.

I use an oil filled radiator heater, hooked up to a Ranco thermostat to keep my snake room at 80F. I also have a small generator in the garage that can run the heater and thermostats during a power outage. I also keep a few hand warmers in case they are needed. and I am considering one of those indoor propane heaters as a back-up. This is my primary room heater:

The safest setup would be using a oil filled heater and a ranco or johnson thermostat.

I would not rely on the heater's thermostat they can go bad very easily which can make the heater overheat.

Than in case of power outage I have a Buddy Heater hooked to a 20 lbs propane tank (It burns clean and is meant to use inddor) http://www.target.com/p/Mr-Heater-Po...gpa=pla&ci_kw=

Deb, do you have any idea what the burn time is for a bottle of propane?

Just a simple oil heater hooked to a thermostat here as well. Also got a backup natural gas heater in our ginormous bathroom for when the power goes out this winter (it will, it always does!).
