Ornate, nile or water monitor? Whoever convinces me on either one picks name.

Hey any opinions? I have plenty of experience with all kinds of monitors and am looking to expand my monitor collection. I am aware of the high amount of food they consume, the high temps and the 25 sq. feet of space an adult needs. I am prepared to provide this along with any other things they may need but i want opinions on what is better.

Water all the way!! They are a little shy at first, but they open up with time. Mines is just skittish. She doesn't bite or tail whip. I even have gotten her to eat FRESH frozen thawed crickets from a dish, which is actually her staple now..Crickets 4 times a week, and pre-killed fuzzies 2 times a week. THEY ARE VERY INTELLIGENT.

I can't wait till she gets to 5 foot. She will have a nice outdoor enclosure since I live in SoFla. :cool:

25 square feet would translate to not even an 8x4 enclosure footprint (32 sq. ft.). Obviously you don't know everything. More research, please.

An adult of any of these species would do okay in an enclosure with 96 square feet of floor space. That's 16x6. Bigger would obviously be better.

PS - I have owned all 3 of these species, and I couldn't recommend either of them to you.
