Water Quality??
Was just wondering if you could use water from a hose to fill up their water bowls.. Its a lot more convenient for me but is it safe to have the metallicy smell sometimes in the water? I have been using sink water from my kitchen but i was wondering if I could use hose water. Thanks!

If you have city water it's going to have cholorine, floride and other chemicals in it. Thats way there is repti safe the stuff that comes in the little bottle and is blue. as long as you put that in the water I would think it'd be fine

The city water supply typically isn't good for reptiles? Alright, I guess I need to go stock up on distilled water.

I personally wouldn't drink my city water, all my pets get bottled spring water. Too much extra "stuff" in city water for my comfort.

I just got my BP and have been using bottled water for her drinking and spraying water.
I only drink bottled water and figured if I wont drink it my snake shouldn't have to drink it.
I am already buying the water, so anyway that is what I am doing. :8:

REALLY? I drink the water from my tap :\ - mind you Toronto has fairly clean drinking water.. but still. I actually prefer the taste over bottled water. Maybe I'm some sort of freak though.:rolleye2:

As far as I know, it's not detrimental to humans. I mean, bottled water tastes better and all, but there's really no other benefit to use the latter for us; However some could argue that tap water IS better than bottled because of the fluoride for your teeth. I fill my dog's dish out of the sink tap as well, and she's 10, perfectly healthy. I wouldn't however, drink tap water in Mexico or Texas for the life of me. I've been to both places and had GOD-AWFUL diarrhea from drinking the water; they have horrible cleaning processes. Most places in urbanized societies have sanitary and safe conditions for drinking water.
Reptiles, on the other hand, are likely vastly different in regard to water tolerance if this is the case for them.

I dare you to come drink the tap water near Boston MA ;)
It sure won't kill me, but it sure doesn't make me feel good lol. I brush my teeth and go to the dentist for my flouride lol.

Argh, I edited my post too late. Yeah, I understand that. I forgot to add those details in my original thought.
I would argue, however, that tap water in most cities doesn't make you feel sick. They typically have fairly standard cleaning and filtration procedures.

Toronto tap water is completely fine.
You're not a freak, you just probably take the environment into account (as do I).
Anyways, I give my reptiles tap water, my cats tap water and myself tap water. So far it's been working fine!
