Breeding help

I have 2 breeding groups of asf. I have 4 adult females in one tank that had a litter of 9. After feeding a all males but 1 I have 1. wean .4 wean and .4 adults. In the other group i have 1.4 sub adults. My question is what is the best way to introduce the male from group 2 to the females of group 1. Group 1 is almost at retirement age and i want to get at least 1 litter out of them because the weans need a few mor months. Itried it before and there was some fighting.Any input on what i should do?

remove them all and put them all in a new cage with completely clean bedding. I think that is what I hear works best.

You MIGHT run into an issue with introducing a male with an existing male. You could always start another colony with a male from either group and females from the other when they both have litters at the same time or take .4 and add them to another cage then introduce a male later on.

I will try it now and see what happens

Adding vanilla or something else strange smelling helps too. Most people will put vanilla on the noses and rumps of all the animals, it confuses their senses, and they typically wont' fight.

Neutral territory is important too.
The best way to introduce a new male, is to leave one from a litter, in the cage and just let it grow up with the colony, imo. :gj:

For now I cleaned a tub put new bedding and sprayed little cologn for a different scent. Then I added the male than each femae one at a time. I havnt seen any fighting but the male is in one corner and the females are in another. I put the weanlings 1.4 and the 4 subadult females together so the male can grow up with them. They are all huddled together so i dnt think there will be a problem

Like stated before, just grow up a male from one of the babies... Easiest way to get a new male in.
You won't have much of a problem with the male in the cage as much as the females trying to kill him.

Well the plan was to introduce a bigger male because one group of females is getting to the retirement age. But even after avenging and moving to a new cage I still had fights so I guess I will have to wait and hope I can get a litter before they retire.

I would still keep the .4 weanies and as soon as the 1.4 produces use a male from there and just let the first group keep producing.
