    Trading BPs
Do any of you trade your BPs?
I noticed when looking on Fauna that a lot of people mention "for sale or trade." Given the risk involved in bringing a new snake into a collection and the quarantines necessary, I'm surprised people trade at all!

If they mean trading for... objects, like iPads or something like that, have any of you traded your snakes for products? Services?

Just kind of curious what sort of market is out there for BPs with the exception of cash.

Tell me about some of your non-cash transactions? :)

Trading is no different than buying in terms of quarrantine and risk. It's just using another snake as method of exchange instead of currency.

I haven't traded snake for snake yet but I am sure I will. Next year I plan on breeding my pied and het pied females to a pied. Probably my pastel yb as well to get some hets. So if the snake gods smile upon me, I'll have baby pieds. As cute as they are, I don't want as many baby pieds and hets as those three females can potentially churn out. What I do need is a lemon blast, a female fire, a superpastel, a black pastel, yada, yada... If someone wants to come carpet my back room or trade something I need in exchange for a pied...sure, why not?

Why not trade snake for snake, snakes for snake, or whatever? Currency or goods, an exchange is an exchange.

How is trading any different than just buying? Either way a new acquisition is a new acquisition.

I have traded snake for snake as well as for other things like feeders and other such supplies.

Well, the reason I say that is I tend to buy my snakes from really big breeders. I figure a big breeder wouldn't want to do a trade, so it seems riskier (even if it's not). Granted, yes, the same quarantines and safety measures are necessary no matter where the snake comes from.

The biggest risk I see with trading is knowing if the other guy sent their snake too. With payments you can wait til you get the money to send the animal. With a trade both guys might be on edge about shipping their animal(for fear the other guy refuses to ship his)

I don't have any problems with trades, as long as I trust the person. I learned my lesson long ago. I still quarantine the heck out of anything new, regardless of who it comes from.

Snakes can be traded for all sorts of stuff. I just traded a really nice little car for some higher end balls locally. I got snakes I had been drooling over, he got a solid car for his young daughter. Win-win. :D

I often consider trading - its a great way to get rid of your hets once they prove out. Its funny the kind of trades you can get. I was offered a proven mojave for my het. once.

Its also a great way to make contacts in the market. ;)
