T for the Office
I'm getting moved to a new office at work with some nice desk space, and I was thinking about getting a T to keep me company. Everyone else in the office is OK with the idea, I just need to know if it's a good idea from the T's side. Is there a particular species that is hardy enough to be left alone on the weekends?

G. Pulcripes is a hardy species. Even a Aphonopelma sp.(New River). It also depends on if you want one that will be visible or hides all the time. But those are the 2 I would go with.

The big issue I see with people doing this is that the cleaning people spray something in the office that ends up killing the T. T's are very sensitive to all kinds of strong smells. I have seen people spray frebreeze in the room the T was in and it give their T problems. I just read thread where the person specifically said not to spray anything in the office around the T and if they are going to use any insecticides to let him know so he can take the T home first for a little while. After some time had passed the cleaning people did anyways and I am pretty sure the T parished. Just something to keep in the back of your mind you know....

Thanks for the heads up. I work for a small company, and I personally know the guy who cleans up around the office on Friday afternoons. If I tell him I'll take care of cleaning my office there shouldn't be a problem, correct?

There shouldn't be a problem but I can't guarantee that if you know what I mean because I don't know the set there, what vents are there, how they clean other areas etc. The best thing you could do is pick one up, do the best you can and hope for the best!! If something goes wrong then you know it's probably just not a good idea to do it again. A lot of people I see have no problems so you most certainly could be one of them :salute: I just wrote that quickly as something to keep in mind. I also didn't comment on a specific T as I was not confident on offering any opinions on that

What about bringing it home with you on Fridays? Would a weekend be enough time for any dangerous cleaning chemicals to dissipate so when you bring the T back on Monday it'd be fine?

I don't know the answer to that personally if two days is enough time. And I would imagine the cleaning people clean Mon-Fri when the office people are done and have the weekends off but I don't know that for sure? But it would be a good idea to take it home with you on Fridays :gj:

I'm going to a show on Sunday, and I'll get more advise from some breeders. If I end up finding one I'll be sure and bring it home with me on Fridays. The office closes at noon on Fridays, and that afternoon is the only time the cleaning crew does their thing.

Sounds like you should be good to go then!!!! Just ask the cleaning person to let you know if they are planning on spraying any insecticides or anything to give you heads up!! Let us know how you make out at the show and good luck there!!!
