I prefer red lights. Mostly just because the black lights bother me when I'm trying to sleep. Don't know if it does the same for snakes or inverts... but that's my reasoning for ever using red =P

Red spectrum is the best for the animals. If the lighting was low enough you could probably do whatever you liked best.

    Thanks for comments...:gj:

I was looking on Exo terra moonlight series bulbs as well... mostly because they have very low wattage(smallest is only 15W)... and I dont want to light interfere too much with temperatures...

Anybody have experience with those ??

I currently have a black light and two green lights for my snakes, one snake has two lights witch gives off just enough heat and the black give off pretty much a lot. But I do plan on getting them all red light bulbs.

You could probably get some little LEDs to put in/around the enclosure. That way you can view without spending a bunch of $ on those crap bulbs. It wouldn't effect heat and they should be small enough and dim enough that they won't effect the snake. I have some little LEDs in my scorp tank. They look really nice, and I haven't had to replace them yet. The tanks been in use for a couple years now with the LEDs. I got them a radio shak for less then 10$ I think.
    Just a thought.
