    Double checking hatchling care
Hey everyone, I've lurked for a long time, but now am deciding to be more active in my 'studies'.

My girlfriend was great enough to buy me my second ball. (and she didn't even want me to get any snakes at all in the first place) Well the hatchling that we ordered currently has only had one meal, and was born on Aug 8, so she's young.

I've reread through the caresheets, and am trying to figure out how long I want the breeder to hold onto her to make sure she's well established to get here smoothly. So, just curious about if anything is much different at this young of an age? I'll have a 10 gallon free and set up before she gets here for sure.

So, any particular details? How many meals? or if I managed to miss a better discussion of hatchling care, please light the torches and chase me rigth towards it.

    Thanks everyone!

It's different with every snake. Some baby snakes will practically eat as soon as they leave the egg and won't turn down a meal, while others have to be worked with to just get a first meal in them.

I never sell a baby snake that hasn't eaten for me at least 5 times, but I would suggest that a breeder feed them at least three times before sending them to a new home. Moving and a different environment can stress a snake out and the snake should have a little meat on them just in case you have to work to get them eating again.

Thanks, I'll probably wait until three feedings then, I want the girl to be in good shape for the trip.

    Just so exciting you know?

I would suggest to wait until atleast 4 to 5 feedings, unless you have a good experience with non eating neonates
