Rice Husk as substrate. Is it safe?
Rice Husk:

One of the current uses:
-absorbents for oils and chemicals
They are very abundant here in the Philippines and cheap. I was wondering if we could use this as substrate instead of Aspen or shaved wood.
Thanks!
Re: Rice Husk as substrate. Is it safe?
That's a new one I hadn't heard of. I have no idea. Chemically speaking, it seems like it should be safe. But not sure about the texture of it. Sand and walnut shells are both chemically safe but still unfit for BP substrate. I'd have to get my hands on some to even make a guess. Hopefully someone else has more experience with it and can chime in.
