    Sperm plug
I think my Male Mojave released a sperm plug into his tub last night. I noticed that he had urine and urates but then there was this other different looking thing that I did not recognize - it was beige in color - kinda thick snotty consistancy about an inch in length.

Do you all think that was what it was - and if it was, are they supposed to just pass them like that.

This particular male is retired from breeding due to a previous prolapse. He recently stopped eating for me - so I wonder if this has something to do with that. I believe breeding season is coming around again - correct.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Possibly sounds like a plug. There is no set "season" they can and will breed anytime of the year

What does it mean when they lose these plugs - he wasn't breeding??

Sorry if this is a stupid question - this all new to me.

Would this possibly explain why he has been refusing to eat lately - he is usually a good eater.

    Thanks

Occasionally I see them in the bins now and then its nothing to worry about. As far as not eating, every bp is different but from my experience somewhere around the 1000g mark is when I have experienced the majority of food refusal outside of when I am pairing them with females

My males will let plugs go when pissing all year long. Its nothing abnormal at all to see, just means hes producing and ready to breed. I will at times pop a male and take his plugs and smear it n females backs if another male is being picky breeding.
