Kinda thinking of straying from Ball Pythons, for now..
i ownly have 2, a normal and a pastel my ex got me, i like em so dont get me wrong or anything, but 1, my parrents arnt a big fan of them, technically i just brought home both snakes and it was more of a suprise to them and told them im not getting rid of them. Also in some ways i think having some leopard geckos would be fun to own and breed while im living at home, they have no problem with that, and maybe if i get my own place i can jump back and have some bps? idk post your ideas, thoughts, concerns or w.e it may be.

I strayed into a BCC boa and then a northern pine snake... They are both very different from BP's (and each other), I really am glad I got them.

i got out of leopards and into balls ...lol
i just didnt have the time to go aand get crickets all the damn time and couldnt stand to keep them around here at the house. ONLY reason i got out of them. if i could stand keeping crickets at home i would have kept them.

You make it sound like you'd be "cheating" on ball pythons if you got into another species. :P I promise, the snakes won't care.

And although our site is called "Ball-Pythons.net" we love ALL herps and all critters here...and we do our best to promote and support all of them here as well.

Just do your research well...put a lot of thought into the commitment you'd be making toward whatever species you want to try (some lizards, for example, take a LOT more daily maintenance than snakes)....and then do what you truly believe is right for you. :)

well i like my balls haha but its like i wasnt supposed to have them anyways cause my dad is literally affraid of them, but i been looking at alot of leopard geckos and they seem to be idk kinda fun n active i guess you can say lol. I heard they're not too expensive to feed, idk the expense from a leopard and bp are or if one is really cheaper than the other? Though i do think if i was gonna get rid of a bp, it would be my normal, i like her and all, but i love my pastel just because its bright yellow and just looks amazing. Maybe ill see if i could keep one and get some leopards and breed them down the road. Less i can get both bps and get leopards? idk lol

I agree with Judy. However, if you do get some geckos, what do you plan to do with your BP's? Are you going to keep them? Or do you plan to find them new homes? If you're going to keep them and just get some geckos instead of any more snakes for the time being, then no worries - go for it (as long as your parents are ok with it). BUT if you are going to rehome your BP's PLEASE make sure you research their future homes carefully! Just because they are reptiles, doesn't mean they are 'throw away' pets. You have the responsibility to find them careing homes. :gj:

If it were me I would get some Crested Geckos if snakes are no longer an option. They are so much better IMO than leos. I have had leos and although I like them they just weren't my thing. Crested geckos don't need heat, they don't need insects, all they eat is crested gecko diet, a powder you mix with water. I find them much more pleasing to look at as well and their personalities are exactly what I wanted in a species. I really dislike keeping and feeding crickets.

I still feed mine insects because it's nice to give them variety and fun to watch them stalk their prey, they also grow faster when you include some bugs in their diet, but you don't have to. I will be picking up a colony of roaches at the Sept reptile show here in Tucson. Sounds disgusting but they are so much better in every single way than crickets. I'll need them in a few months...

Here are a few picture of my male and little tailless female cresties...okay more than a few.
