need help deciding for next years breeding season.....
    ok guys and gals,
i have a female black pastel that should be online by this coming up season. i have always planned on borrowing her father to breed her to. my origional goal was to make super black's.
well i picked up an awesome male lesser this year and after seeing how sweet black pastel lesser's look i started having a change of heart as far as my plans were concerned.
now i dont have the money to buy another ready to breed black pastel so that is out. i just want your input as to what YOU would do. ultimately the decision will be mine but input is always nice.
    thanks in advance

When it comes to super cinnies and or super black pastels I would outcross as much as possible and would definitely not breed your cinny back to her sire.

i understand your thinking but i have yet to see any tangible proof that out crossing lessens the potential for defects. i will certainly research it more before i make my decision though. thanks for reminding me about that aspect. i know i wont breed her to a cinny as i love my black pastel's and you can truly tell she is a black and not a cinny.

Well my first pick isn't on your poll:D I've really been diggin the Black Magics. Maybe it's because I'm a diehard Mojave fan. Who knows. The black pastel lessers/butters are very nice as well. Now as far as pairing her with her father, I wouldn't do it personally but I know several breeders who wouldn't think twice. I'm a big fan of outcrossing as much as possible. Oh yea! Where's the pictures of the snakes being discussed?!

I agree with breeding the lesser since the supper cinnies are known to have issues.

I'd go for the super-black, and do the lesser NEXT year. If you get lucky, you can keep back 1.1 supers for future projects.

The folks arguing against the super-black seem to think you shouldn't produce one at all, which is just silly. Line breeding for a generation or 2 has never been shown to cause problems in ball pythons.

Just make sure you write up some good paperwork for the breeding loan.
