question for people who use tubs.
    Two simple questions.

What size tub do you use for adults?
Do you still provide hides and if so one or two?

I use 41 quarts for adult females (Sterilite 1960) and 32 quarts for adult males (Sterilite 1755

I don't provide hides anymore unless necessary and in that case I only provide 1 (each snake is different and while most do not require an hide some do)

Same as above but I do still offer one hide in every tub

keeping the hides over the heat source?

Not all of them need hides. My normal girls and my male pastel are all fine without hides. But I have 2 that will hide in their water if I don't give them a hiding spot. If I were you, I would give them hides anyways just to be safe. A hide never hurts but it sucks having to change the substrate every day because a 1000 gram female likes to hang out in her water dish and displace it ALL. lol

That's usually where I place it if I do but the snakes rearrange the furniture as needed. ;)

I have a couple different size tubs, but I had to add..

I have a mojave female that has a "binkie". I often give hatchlings a hide(plastic cereal bowl with a "door" cutout). As she's grown up, I took out the hide as she didn't fit into it anymore and she promptly stopped eating. So I gave her a new larger hide, and she still pouted and refused to eat.

Eventually I figured out she "needs" her binkie hide. As long as it's in the bin, she'll eat just fine. Even will eat in shed. She doesn't fit under it, so it's rather like kid wearing a bucket on their head. But as long as she has it, she eats, so she still gets her binkie.

Maybe one day she'll outgrow her need for a binkie but until then, she can have it. All the rest of my snakes won't use hides if I put them in the bins, so I don't bother anymore.(except for hatchlings who I often will give hides to when they do the first move into a larger bin from the shoebox bins.).
