What is more humane?

Alright, so we have a MM A. Metallica that is in his downward spiral. The pairing to our girl didn't take and she molted instead of dropping an egg sack. So now here we are out of the season and the chances of us getting him to pair with her are nil. What would be a more humane way to let him die? Just letting him be and let nature take it's course? Putting him in another enclosure with a different specie and letting them eat him? Or, putting him in a zip-lock bag and placing him in the freezer?

Keep in mind before you answer, my wife absolutely loves this guy. He is her "Shy Guy".

I've read to put them in the refrigerator overnight then to transfer them to the freezer in the morning, it's supposed to be very humane and easier on the tarantula. I've personally never tried this because my last male got munched after mating my large H. Maculata female. You could also try dry ice to render the t unconscious then place him in the freezer? Since your wife loves the little guy you could always do your best to make him as comfortable(plenty of food, water, warmth and humidity) as possible his last few days/weeks and just let nature take its course. no need to kill your little guy. when is the last time he has eaten? you can breed T's anytime of the year I would try again if you think he's up to the challenge.

My wife puts a cricket in every night. We pull it out after two days if he doesn't eat it by then. She tried to get him to go into her enclosure, but he didn't go. Odd though, he did sperm web the other day, but still it looks like he just doesn't have the strength.

well you would be the best person to judge but i would try and get a sac out of him keep his legacy going :D i think you will be surprised how they spring back when there is a female around. Good luck with the little guy.
