bp sitting in its water bowl?

i was just woundering y my little lady is sitting in her water bowl? started sitting in the water yesterday and got out of the bowl for the night but is back in the bowl.

Is the humidity low in the enclosure? Is she getting ready to shed? Have you checked for mites?

Could be she's going into shed or she has mites. When my snake went into shed he spent the entire day soaking. If this is the case don't worry. What she's doing it's lubricating her body to get ready to get rid of her old skin.

If you see tiny bugs crawling on her, that's mites and she's trying to kill them. Check on her and if you can't see bugs on her then I wouldn't worry about it.

Just keep an eye on her.

when i read mites i think :O, but im pretty sure shes going in to shed. ill check tomorrow for those little bugs.

ok no mites, shes just going into shed. todays feeding day, will she still eat? shes only a little greyish.

u can offer her some food. Some will take it when going in to shed, others won't. Mine eat while getting into shed so it never harms to try :)

Mine eats no problem when shedding. If she's a picky eater on a good day, than she probably wont eat while in shed. Offer anyways. :)

BP can soak for the following reasons, mites, humidity not high enough, in shed, hides not snug enough, meal to big etc, you just need to go by elimination if it persist simply provide a dish that is not big enough for your BP to soak in.

well got some bad news, i found some mites:( i need some advise on this one. whats the best methods for removing these pests?

Provent-a-Mite (PAM) is the way to go. Order a can online, follow the instructions on the can and it'll take care of the problem.

In the meantime, remove any wood substrate and any other tank decorations. Put plain paper towel or newspaper down as substrate. You can give your bp a bath in lukewarm (88-ish degree) water with a drop of dish soap in it to try to drown the mites on the snake right now.
