    Rescued bp had to sure
Ok I have never posted on this site, and thought it was time I have been a proud owner since feburary of this year. I got my first, my baby from (yeah yeah yeah) from petsmart with my income tax return... And the rest was done, I got hooked. My second bp wasnt to planned though. I was actuely in the market for a red tail columbian boa. The store I started getting my feeders from had babies for $75 and full grown for $250 for it and its tank. I have been eye balling both for a few weeks saving my dollars. When I finely made my desion a friend and I went to pick up my new friend. However when we got there they had a new arivel a grown ball python. For $80 I was spent. I held it and was inlove. Iwas impatiant for my baby girl to get this big. So I got this big girl instead of the RCB.
since then I have researched everyday on ball pythons. Imean its my life now. So much to the point I want to work with snakes for a living and other reptiles. I am even wanting to get my own resque org started. So here it goes my first rescue story

I frequently visit herpcenter forums everyday, learning about other snakes and reptiles. Well a few days ago a guy had came one to the bp section. Woundering if ball pythons where native to the houston area (where him and I both are) of corse we all told him no.
well he told us that just that morning he had found a 3foot ball python in a flowe pot on his back pourch. We explained to him that it was no doubt someones ditched or escaped pet, but that it was unusuel for a ball python thats escaped to travel that far. So I told him to go to all three naighbers on both sides of him behind him and across the street. And if he couldnt then find the owner I would be more then willing to take the snake in. I told him where I was and he said he had to come my way anyways so I had him meet me at my local petstore. He brought it to me he had put it in a rubbermaid tube. When I met him yesterday (saterday) I opened the tube which I didnt need, I picked it up.

Now my baby is at 2 feet. And almost 500grams. This snake was at 3feet and right at 180grams. I was like its been with out food for at least a month. However the pet store and I are guessing 3months. You can litterly feel the vertibreas and rib bones. The pet store gave me 3 frozen mice and told me I can get three a week for free for 4 weeks. I brought it home and it quickly ate all three. It is active however does look like it can start shedding any minute now. Now sign of ri scale rot scars mites or mouth rot just way malnurished and dehydrated it has soaked a bit in its water tonight yet has moved out, and has visited both hide and is now exploring...

I will post pics once I figured out how on here

    Welcome to BP.net :colbert2:
Congrats on the rescue, I would suggest strict QT for 3 months, also get a fecal done to check for parasites.

Take some time to check out the BP care sheet in the forum section.

I was giving advice based on your post, you have owned a BP for 6 months, and that pretty much makes you still a noob, which is why I posted those suggestions.

Yeah I know and I think you for it. I wasn't trying to be rude. remember I said I am always researching. Everyday there is not a day that doesn't go by that I don't research. But really I wasn't trying to be rude or anything (to me it sounded rude on my part) it was 2:30 i was half a sleep. but your I am always open to advice, and though I did know about it, what you said a about fecal matter, that didn't cross my mind so I will do that so the vet can check for parrasites

I hope he gets a clean bill of health for you, and he is lucky to have been rescued by you.
Best of luck with him :)

im almost in the same boat as ive only been a snake owner for about 6 months and spend all my time researching reptiles and plan to get into breeding bps very soon. one big difference is the snake im trying to rescue is a 10 foot albino burm, who is also super malnourished. its just really hard to find room for him and all the other problems that come with. but congrats on being there for the little guy and im sure he'll be more then happy with you.

I am trying to get into this for a living, if you want to call it that. Its a hobby I can see me doing for a living. Music is my other greatest hobby but I will never want to do it for a living because I don't want to get caught up in the industry mess, and have it ever be about the money over music. I want to get into doing this in a way I can do this for a living, and I feel that I can do it with it ever becoming more about the money and not about the animals. I want to by the next breeding season (not the one coming) get into breeding. I want to get into breeding some pretty high dollar morphs, however I don't want to do it for the money. I want it to help me raise the money that I can put back into my project, and my rescue org and work with other orgs around Texas as well.

Any who I am about to try and post some pics here real fast so tell me what ya'll think
