    Exciting Fire clutch
Well this fire clutch was probably one of our least exciting clutches of the year. We bred a fire male to a very very clean looking normal female. Didn't really pay much attention to these eggs after cutting them, with all the hg woma stuff hatching at the same time. When they emerged from the eggs and I saw a couple of them I was deffinitely more excited. The female fire has a granite type look to her. She has the hole in the neck stripe, wacky pattern, and an increase in the amount of flames. The males look very nice but not quite like the female. We will see later just what is going on.

What is the significance of the hole in the neck stripe?

Granite morphs tend to have the hole in the neck stripe, or some type of disruption in that area.

We are not 100% it is granite, future breeding should prove it one way or the other. Based on our experience with the NERD line Granite we have, I think we have a good shot at it carrying the Granite gene.

Either way, she is a looker and will be put in the holdback rack.

Yes, as Mike said almost all granite lines cause a hole in the neck stripe and sometimes in the eye stripe. I have also seen that the cause an increase in the contrast and amount of flames on the snake. The pattern gets a little wacky with the granite gene in play as well. We are use to seeing the black flecking in the pattern to determine granite morphs, but with some combos, for example the Hg womas, the black granite flecking on the sides goes away so all you have is the hole in the neck stripe to identify the granite gene.
