Any tips on switching from live to F/t ? Need help, thanks guys

So I got my girl In this morning and the breeder usually feeds her on saturdays, but from all that traveling she must be pretty stressed out, so my question is when should I feed her and what's a good way to convince that f/t is delicious,

I have only had one snake out of all mine that refuses to switch to F/T. A great way to switch them is to ask a pet store for some soiled rodent bedding. You can thaw it out in the fridge over night with some of the bedding. It will make the rodent smell more appealing. Make sure the head and body is nice a warm to give the snake something to aim for.

Using tongs to make the rodent do the zombie dance simulates a live rodent as well. If you don't have reptile feeding tongs you can pick up a cheap pair of grilling tongs to use for a dollar or two. It doesn't work as smoothly as specific feeding tongs, but it gets the job done.

Patience is probably the biggest key to switching over reluctant snakes. Good luck!

Leave her alone for a week, except for changing water or spot cleaning, if needed. No Handling or feeding. This will give her time to acclimate to her new environment. After a week, offer a meal. If the breeder was feeding live, then I would suggest doing that for the first few feedings, until she gets established, then try to switch to F/T. Some snakes will switch with no problems and some require a little (or alot) of work. The main things to remember about feeding F/T is:
1) Make sure the prey is thoroughly thawed.
2) Use something like a blow dryer to heat the prey up to about 100F. This may or may not be necessary. Some snakes prefer warm prey, and some don't care.
3) Pre-scenting will help. This can be done by thawing the rats in the same room or near the enclosure. This will let the snake smell the rat and be in feed mode before it is presented.
4) Feed tongs can help as well.
I would concentrate first on letting her get acclimated and feeding regularly though. Congratulations on your new little friend. :gj:

i just purchased 2 snakes from a breeder last thursday so ive had them for 8 days, i let them get used to their new environment for 4 days then offered them a live rat pinky what the breeder was feeding them and my mojave hit is instantly and my spider it took 2 hours of the rat pinky sitting in her cage then she took it. Then tonight 5 days later i offered them both a f/t rat pinky and all i did was drop them in thier cage(my mojave girl took it out of mid air) after thawing them out in warm water and with a blow dryier i heat the head up for 2-3 seconds longer than the body to prevent them from swallowing them backwards. only reason why i fed f/t is cause im waiting on a rat to give birth which should be any day. And when they strike at the f/t rat pinky i wiggle is to make the snake squeeze harder like she would have to to kill a live rat pinky.
Hope that helps oh ya and i havnt held either of them yet after the unboxing im probably going to wait another feed or 2 till i pick them up just to make sure that they consistently feed till i handle them. and i feed them at the same time of day the breeder did at 9:00pm
