    Layne Labratories--EXCELLENT RATS!
Just received my 1st shipment from Layne Labratories (http://www.laynelabs.com), and I'm very pleased!

Ordered 25 pinky rats and 25 fuzzy rats. I chose to go with them over other vendors because I could order so few quantities of small rats (I don't need 100 pinkies!).

The package was shipped FedEx 2 day from their location in California to my home in Central IL. I was provided with a tracking # and they also called yesterday to let me know it was on its way.

The rats were packed in plastic bags, in an insulated bag with the dry ice (separate plastic bag), inside styrofoam, inside the cardboard shipping box. The rats were still completely rock solid frozen when they arrived here and there was still quite a bit of dry ice left. The rats were clean and there was absolutely no sign of blood, bedding, etc. None were frozen together.

I will definitely be returning to Layne Labs for my future rat-purchasing needs!

How much was the shipping? They sound like a great business.

I looked into them once. The only thing that turned me off was the shipping. To ship to MA was going to cost more than my order. Of course if your ordering large quantities it could be worth it. Luckily I've found two local guys who breed rats.

For 25 rat pinkies and 25 rat fuzzies, shipping was just under $40. About standard from what I've seen from other places.

Like I said, I decided to go with them because of the small quantities they offered. I have no use for 100 pinkies as the 5 babies I'm currently feeding would be moving to the next size up before I got through them all. As it is, they're growing so fast that I think they'll be ready for the fuzzies before the pinkies are gone.

if you look at their website under shipping info it tells you wat days the do and dont ship and how you can make sure to get your order like 5 days earlier by ordering before wednesday, at least i think thats wat day it is. i have yet to purchase anything from here but that was my understanding of it.

Finally a place that doesn't make you order 50-100 mice! I can see myself ordering from there very soon.

I got my first order from them just a couple weeks ago and I was super pleased! I picked up 50 jumbo mice and with shipping it cost me about the same as it would've if I'd traveled to our nearest rept expo once figuring in the cost of gas. I like this much better - the mice were absolutely pristine and not a single one was stuck to another! Not at all like the dirty solid block I had been getting...

I did place my order on a Wednesday night, so my order didn't ship out til Monday and it arrived the following Wednesday afternoon (1 week from placing my order). But the customer service guy I spoke to was exceptionally courteous and professional. I'll definitely be ordering from them from now on! :gj::gj:
