So I'm hearing about how hard it is to keep the humidity high enough, but is there an upper limit? Mine is at 90% right now!

What kind of enclosure is your snake kept in? If it is a tub, you can put more holes in it or try a smaller water bowl.

Yes it is a plastic tub. At the moment its got about 30 holes total. I'll put some more in it, but what range should I be aiming for? I want to know the upper safe limit as so far I've only seem people say it needs to be above 50%
edit: Oh never mind I see the range should be 50-60%

i know 50-60 is the safe %. when shedding 60-70%
if the humidity is kept too high for too long they can develop scale rot...but im not sure how high or for how long

Re: humidity too high?
I was under the impression from this forum that it doesn't matter if it is 50%, 60% or even 70% just as long as there is no condensation forming on the tub and the inside of the tub is dry to the touch - is this correct.
I currently have one tub that is running at 69% - I am assuming this is fine since there is no condensation.

Mine's at 82% right now. No condensation... I was told as long as there is no condensation not to worry too much about it... It's gone up since I covered some of the holes with tape to keep heat in better. But what do I know, really? I just got her a few days ago and am still learning. Good luck with your humidity!

Re: humidity too high?
Thank you for the tip about condensation, I hadn't heard that before. I just drilled a LOT more holes and humidity is currently at 68% with no condensation. I did have a lot of condensation earlier.

I was told that condensation is a "bad" thing - you will want to keep that from forming definitely.
Good luck to ya.

Exactly all condensation will do is provide an environment for scale rot and other bacterial problems. As long as you have air flow and no condensation I think you'll be a ok.
