ok so i just read in another thread not to use nite drop on t-stat and on the care sheet it says not to use nite drop... so im wondering if i spent extra money i didnt need to on a johnson controls with "nite drop" ... i bought that t-stat under the impression of when my ball pythons are of breeding age it will simulate the climate change they would have in there natural habitat .....very confused

It's not necessary at all unfortunately. Sorry, I was under the same impression when I first started as well but luckily learned before I bought my thermostats that I wouldn't need it.

There are some breeders who use the night drop, to help cycle/cool their animals at the start of breeding season.

Do you absolutely need a night drop, no. I think it it's convenient to have one, and don't believe it's a waste of money.

I use a night drop at the start of breeding season just for good measure. I don't believe it's completely necessary, but I don't think it hurts either.
